We held a Solar Watch in the middle of town on a busy Saturday afternoon and had some good response from passers by, when the Sun got through the clouds. Not much on the Sun's disc but it impressed those who stopped to take a look.
After the council's silly reply to our request to hold a Moon Watch on Town Field, we decided not to mention it to them and just set up at Clock Corner and had no problems with the local constabulary, who seemed to studiously ignore us.
The occasion was good enough to encourage us to repeat it and possibly do the same for the Moon perhaps in a supermarket carpark, though that requires their agreement.
